P1 – Maniac

Flight characteristics

The P1 flight characteristic is very straight at high and low speeds. The P1 is ideal for a putter and it works great as an approach disc. The most popular D-line plastic is sticky and grippy but not too soft. P-line on the contrary is very soft and rubbery. This is one of the truest flying putters out there.

Your basic Aviar, a fundamental putter that is never a bad choice. In D it’ll fly very straight with little to no turn nor fade on distances from 50-250 feet, and with use will develop some turn, making it even floatier on jump putts and short approaches and opening up harder turning anhyzer lines on longer shots.

The P-Lines are interesting. The stability is pretty much the same as in the D-Lines, perhaps a little less stable, but due to the floppyness they’re almost indestructible. Tree hits can’t break the structure (since there’s almost none to break) and the rubbery material absorbs shocks and resists cuts and scrapes really well. My three year old P-Line still flies like it did a week after I bought it. They’re also really tacky when you first get them, and if you keep them clean they’ll stay that way. If you can handle the soft feel these will make great driving, approach and putting putters.

In S and C it’ll fly somewhat more stable, can handle a good rip when driving and will have more fade than the baseline versions. As they are a bit slicker they’re not quite as good for putting duties as the baseline version, but really shine on approaches and drives.

I have had the P-1 maniac for about 3 weeks now. I have played it in the rain.snow, and high wind. the disc weight is 170 grams. I have used it for my long approaches of more that 12 feet to 100 feet. Great true flight with a slight fade to the left at the end. I have thrown more birdies with this disc than any other.
Rain play, This disc just wipe the mud off and throw. It is a never slip (here in Oregon USA lot’s of rain). Freezing temps P-1 stayed soft. No hand warmer need to keep it soft.
This disc will stay in my bag forever, and if I ever ware it out (which I doubt) I will be getting another to replace it.

  5. Best upshot putter on the market. Soft so if it hits a tree it sits down. When you get near the bucket it will settle down right by it without a big skip. Perfect stability, I’ve got 2 aces in one week with this disc, and I’ve only had 9 aces in my career. What a great disc. A little more stable than the generic aviar, yet not as stable as the P2. Must try disc.
