PD – Freak

Flight characteristics

The PD Freak is a fast and stable Power Driver driver which is very resistant to the wind. The PD has good glide and is useful for sidearms, stable power shots, and long flex shots for experienced players. This disc offers longer and straighter shots with a reliable low speed fade. If you’re hesitant to try the Power Driver, ask anyone who’s tried it - this disc is a true crowd favorite.

I found one of these in the ditch the other day. I had never thrown a discmania disc before. I gave it a huck and was pleasantly surprised. I mainly throw Innova discs and was noticed the freak throws similarly to the innova star orc. The freak was slightly less stable than the orc in all the right ways. This disc went a lot further than I thought it would, a lot. If you like throwing an Innova Orc, get this disc and add 20 feet to your shot.

I could actually play every shot with this disc. S to beat to a straight drive, C to hold the line and nice fade, and a P to beat in for great hyzer flips and annys. This is one of those discs that you throw it once and it you know it will stay in the bag permenately. It gets great distance without having to use a super wide rim, easy to power down, and more importantly easy to control. I absolutely love this disc. Thank you Discmania for the best disc I have ever had the pleasure of throwing.

PD as in Finnish someone from FGCK stated ‘Paras Draiveri’ which translates to Best Driver. When I need to throw far I use PD. I do not have ‘the hand’ for huge bombs or long straight killer shots but instead I drive fairly steady 85 meter drives. The PD suprises me, From 70-80 meters I increased my drives by 10-15%. After trying a bunch of different discs the PD has established pole position in my bag. I choose the PD also in forehand throws and the results are very predictable. I am able to throw same foreshot with P-plastic everytime. Overall: PD is my disc, it really doesn’t matter what kind of weather it is or what curve my shot takes. I<3PD.

The Discmania Power Driver is simply the best driver out there for me, and (putting aside) even probably the best overall disc for me. With the PD I always know what it’s going to do. Max D is not bad either, a slight turnover with a late forward penetrating fade with my P-PD gives the wide rimmed drivers a run for their money. Sneeeeaky long.

With a beat P- S- and C-line PDs in my bag, in order of increasing stability, I can cover almost any shot & angle I want, whether backhand, forehand or overhead, windy or not, doesn’t matter much. Rollers, also not a problem. It even powers down nicely, so from anywhere from 50m up to well over 100m I can rely on the PD to do its job. Of course I have to do mine as well, but it is also a remarkably forgiving disc for slight form flaws.

My absolute favourite disc in my bag is my white 175g multicolor Freak stamped P-PD, it’s my baby and I’m not ashamed to say I would cry if I ever lost it. It’s like it knows what I want it to do, and then does it. Every time.

Choose PD and have it reinvent your game.

Just about the best and most versatile (in different plastics and stages of wear) driver in the game. If the TeeBird and Eagle-X had a speed 9/10 baby, this would be it. Not only is it realiable in almost any wind conditions and can handle power with ease, it’s also pretty damn long when thrown properly. You won’t be losing much in distance against all out distance drivers, and the added control of this disc will keep you in better scoring positions.

Throw an S-PD flat and they go straight for a long time with a very consistent forward penetrating fade at the end. Throw them on an anhyzer and they hold a slightly turning line for long while before reliably coming out at the end. They’ll also hold beautiful hyzer lines in just about any wind conditions. As they age you start to get a bit of Eagle-X like turn out of them without losing the reliable fade, meaning you can shape even more lines with it. Been throwing my first one for two years and it’s only now developing some turn. You’ll get a lot of life out of these things.

Domey C-Lines are pretty similar to the S-Lines, just a tad more overstable, whereas the flat C-Lines can handle any wind without missing a step and still aren’t total meathooks.

P-lines are a bit more varied. The gummy ones I’ve got all started out almost as overstable as the S-Lines, just beat in somewhat faster. The lighter ones pretty quickly became great lineshaping discs, having a decent amount of turn while still coming back at the end, where as the heavier ones still retain much of their original stability and are not that far off from beat S-PD’s. Stiffer P-PD’s start out more neutral or understable, depending on the weight, and beat in faster. These can take care of all of your understable needs if you let them.

With flat C-lines for wind and overstable duties, a couple of S-PD’s and P-PD’s in various stages of wear, you can handle all of your driver needs with PD’s. I’ve done it and it’s totally feasible, but at the end of the day it felt more comfortable for me to handle understable duties with TD’s. Still, the PD is just incredibly versatile, and definitely a disc everyone should try. There’s a spot for it in any bag.

the best in this disc is that this can be done almost everything what you want. it flies a long straight, hyzer, anhyzer and even Rollers. and the fact that the how controlled and predictable this is, it is this score!

If I don’t know which disc should I throw, I don’t need to think it twice ! I usually take my PD to my hand, and use it. Because I can trust in in any situations, not depending am I throwing hyzers, anhyzers, sidearm, S-throws, anything ! And any grip of this disc is so perfect !

Once, I was going to sell my PD, BUT when I was throwing my discs, I realized that what an earth I was doing. I was doing a really big mistake. The line what PD flies is so unique, predictable and beautiful, and the ratio of glide, fade and every features is so amazing! Especially when I’m throwing sidearm throws, I have used, and I still use ALWAYS PD.

And the stamp is so cool, when my opponents see it, they get soooooo scraed ;)

Simply said the name PD means really the same as Prime Disc !

I throw this disc when I can’t reach with my mid range or t-bird.
It could replace my t-bird if it was a little more over stable.
But you can really get on this disc backhand and it flies nice and straight. Forehand it tends to try and flip when you get on it and that is why I keep the birds in the bag still.

  9. greenmeanie says:

Why is my P-line freak so darn hard?
A gummy P-line like the frenzy would be better.
But this disk is a longer t-bird for sure.
    Thumbs up!

  10. My favorite Discmania disc. So versatile, flex anhyzers, tube shots, spike hyzers, the PD can do it all. It wont break any distance records, but it is so controlable. Not another disc like it.
