EY´s Entrepreneur of the Year competition is the most prestigious entrepreneurship competition in the world. It was first held in the US in 1986 and today involves thousands of entrepreneurs in more than 60 countries. Discmania has been named as one of ten finalist in the Entrepreneur of the Year 2021 contest in Finland.
“This is a great honor for both myself and Discmania, and I am thrilled to be considered as a finalist. I got my first taste of entrepreneurship when I was just 8-years old, working with my grandparents, who ran a small workshop building Finnish baseballs and baseball gloves. They were a very big influence on me early in life, I would not be in this position now if it weren’t for them. I wish they were here now to enjoy this special moment with me,” says Jussi Meresmaa, founder of Discmania.
Established in 2006, Discmania is considered one of the fastest growing disc golf companies in the world. Meresmaa shares, “2021 was a break-through year for us at Discmania, as we began in-house manufacturing our flagship “Originals” line for the first time in company history. This nomination for Entrepreneur of the Year is the icing on the cake for what has been an incredible year already.”
While the disc golf season is now turning to offseason, Discmania continues on at full speed. Later this month, Discmania will release the wildly popular “Mystery Boxes”. Meresmaa had this to say, “to celebrate Discmania´s 15-year anniversary, we have put together quite possibly our best Mystery Boxes to date. Stay tuned to our social media channels, because these will go quickly.”
EY´s Entrepreneur of the Year 2021 Final will be held in Helsinki, January 2022.
