C-line FD release on Oct 8th!

In our seemingly continuos stream of good news, there’s more good news! Our most sold driver model to date, the FD Jackal, will soon finally be available in super durable C-line plastic. The feedback on the FD has been phenomenal and it has broken all sales records in Europe, making it Europe’s most sold disc model of the year. That’s right! And you thought this was the year of the Blizzard. Nope. This is the year of the FD!

The FD in C-line is arguably more stable than it’s S- & D-line versions. For those who’ve loved the S-FD for it’s tremendous glide and straightforward flight path, the C-line version offers more reliability with a milder high speed turn and added low speed fade. What’s great about the C-line version is that while S- & D-FD’s have been too flippy for some power throwers, the C-line version resists power a lot better. Essentially this disc is almost an extended midrange disc – It flies predictably and controllably like a midrange but thanks to it’s tremendous glide it just keeps going and going.

The international release date is set to Monday, the 8th of October but depending on your region, it may take some more time before they are available at your local Discmania retailer. We are really psyched about this disc, hopefully you are too! We believe the FD in it’s different plastic blends is a disc model basically everyone can better their game with. We’ve seen this in action ourselves and heard the feedback from the field, this truly is the year of the FD!

Meresmaa in the lead after R1 at USDGC!

The weather treated the competitors well at the first round of United States Disc Golf Championships, a tournament coined as the “SuperBowl of Disc Golf”. Warm and mostly calm conditions helped push the scores below PAR for the most of the field, as a record-breaking 80+ percent of the Open field scoring one or more under the course PAR 68. Another result-improving factor was definitely the more relaxed OB policy this year: Instead of stroke and distance, a player throwing OB now just needs to re-throw without a a penalty shot. This rule is commonly known as the buncr-rule.

Team Discmania got started the tournament with a great momentum, as Mr. Discmania himself, Jussi Meresmaa, shot an incredible -12 (56) and is now tied to the lead. Jussi even started his round with a bogey on hole one, but managed to get his game on track right after that by shooting 10 birdies and 1 eagle on the next 12 holes. Will Shcusterick (-9), Avery Jenkins (-7) and Seppo Paju (-6) of Team Discmania are still in the game for the top spot as there’s still 3 rounds of Disc Golf to be played.

The action will continue today at 8:00 AM (EDT) and the lead card tees off at 10:20 AM. Be sure to follow the events as they happen via live broadcast at DiscGolfPlanet.tv and live scoring at usdgclive.com!

USDGC coming up!

It’s almost here! The tournament director Jonathan Poole and his hardworking crew are really putting up a show as the most prestigious event in our sport, the United States Disc Golf Championships starts officially on Wednesday. This year the tournament form is a hybrid of two types of play: the Pro flight and Performance flight. This means that there are players competing in two different categories: roughly half of the field is playing for the lowest overall score, while the other half is playing for the best handicapped score, based on their PDGA-rating.

Team Discmania is naturally taking in on the action this year too. Our line-up for the USDGC2012 looks like this:

Will Schusterick, Team DiscmaniaAvery Jenkins, Team DiscmaniaNathan Sexton, Team DiscmaniaJussi Meresmaa, Team DiscmaniaSeppo Paju, Team DiscmaniaLeo Piironen, Team DiscmaniaJuho Rantalaiho, Team Discmania
