Press Release: Discmania establishes a state-of-the-art golf disc factory, grows rapidly

 Press Release, June 21st

A Finnish company specializing in disc golf products is setting up its own factory, aiming for strong international growth. Discmania, the market leader in Europe, is setting up a 22,000 sq/ft state-of-the-art factory in Skellefteå, Sweden and will employ between 20-25 people.

Discmania, founded in 2006, has emerged over the past few years as one of the most coveted disc golf brands in the world. Some of the world’s top professional disc golfers use Discmania’s products. Previously, Discmania’s products have been produced by other disc manufacturers. Now, the new factory allows more production capacity as well as better control of the brand's products.

“Our own factory with full control of our products has long been our goal. Our new highly automated factory, together with our strong marketing expertise, gives us an excellent opportunity to grow into the world's leading disc golf brand,” says the company's founder and Head of Growth Jussi Meresmaa.

The annual revenue of Spin18 Oy, the company behind the brand, has grown rapidly. The company has its head office in Tampere, Finland, a sales office in Stockholm, Sweden, and a subsidiary in Colorado, USA. The group's annual revenue last year was 14 million euros, and the current target for 2021 is 22 million. With the new factory, we predict that the revenue will rise to more than 30 million by 2022. The company expects the greatest growth in the US market, where Discmania still has the position of a challenger.

“Although Finland is a model country for disc golf, and our home market, we are strongly focused on exports. At the moment, about 70% of our annual revenue comes from outside Finland,” Meresmaa adds.

Discmania's product range currently includes three different disc lines (Active, Evolution, and Originals), of which the production of the popular Originals collection will start in Sweden this summer. Next, the company will also bring the production of the Evolution collection to its own factory. In addition to the popular disc lines, Discmania has an industry-leading disc golf course concept: DiscGolfPark. Sales of disc golf courses have also grown swiftly, and the company expects to supply more than 300 disc golf courses this year around the world.
