Ever since we announced the new Evolution line of discs, the demand for more releases and more products to grow the Evolution offerings has been quite high. We’ve always listened to feedback and worked with our partners to make the Evolution line reach its ultimate potential. Today, we’re taking another step in that direction by introducing a new starter set, plastic blend, and new disc that we’re very excited about.
The entry to disc golf has always been easy. You really just need one disc, but having a complete set of putter, midrange, and driver can really get a new disc golfer hooked. We’ve worked hard to find the best combination of discs for this new Evolution Starter Set.
New Origin Midrange
Along with the very popular Essence driver and Link putter, we’re introducing the Origin. This new understable midrange is the first understable midrange in the Discmania line up. It’s been asked for for years, and we’re very excited about the final result.
The Origin is a slightly smaller diameter midrange which makes the maximum weight just 177 grams. Combined with the smaller rim, it is very easy to hold and can help give you great control on the course.
The -1 turn rating and 1 fade rating helps make this a very straight flying and controllable midrange. It is very accurate in short range shots, but can be a workhorse off the teepad.
This is also the first time that we’re releasing discs in the new GEO plastic. It is a bit softer than EXO plastic, but with better grip. Each disc in the Evolution Starter Set comes in GEO plastic. All discs in the GEO line are a little less stable than their premium plastic (NEO and LUX) counterparts.
While discs in GEO plastic will be available for purchase at a later date, it will be exclusive to the Evolution Starter Set for now.
Release of the Evolution Starter Set
The Origin itself will be released on its own later in 2020.
The Discmania Evolution Starter Set will initially be released in Europe on Friday, July 17. It will be released in the United States in Spring 2021.
